در پي درخواست شرکت ملي صنايع مس ايران در خصوص مطالعات امکان‌سنجي طرح توسعه 200 هزار تني واحد تغليظ سرچشمه شرکت مديريت طرح معادن اقدام به بررسي موضوع در قالب مطالعات اوليه اقتصادي، فني و مالي اين طرح نمود. مطالعات نشان داد كه براي طرح توسعه 200 هزار تني واحد تغليظ سرچشمه، با فرض دوران ساخت و راه‌اندازي 4 ساله و دوران بهره‌برداري 12 ساله، برآورد سرمايه گذاری مورد نياز طرح در حدود 1.596 ميليارد ريال (شامل ٨٣.٢٣ ميليون دلار و 839 ميليارد ريال) مي‌باشد كه در صورت لحاظ كردن بهرة وام و سرمايه در گردش اين رقم حدود 1938 ميليارد ريال خواهد بود. پس از احداث و بهره‌برداري از اين طرح سود خالصي برابر 1094 ميليارد ريال در سال مبنا نصيب شرکت ملي صنايع مس ايران خواهد شد.
