Project: Seawater Desalination Plant, Qeshm Island, 10,000 m3/day
Client: Qeshm Utility Company
Background: Qeshm Utility Company planned a seawater desalination plant to meet part of Qeshm City’s potable water needs. The first phase was designed for 5,000 m³/day, with provision for doubling capacity in a second phase.
Actions: MEWE completed conceptual and basic designs, covering process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineering. Tender documents for EPC procurement were prepared, and MEWE provided construction supervision over the two-year build.
Results: The plant uses beach well intake, pretreatment, RO, and post-treatment systems. It replaced an older thermal desalination facility, and the second phase expansion increased capacity to 10,000 m³/day.
