Project: Concentrator Plant Expansion of Sarcheshmeh Copper Mine
Client: National Iranian Copper Industries Company
Background: NICICo initiated plans to increase concentrate production at the Sarcheshmeh Copper Complex as part of the plant’s Phase II expansion. In this project, MEWE served as the engineering design reviewer for the EPC contractors and provided construction supervision.
Actions: MEWE reviewed, commented on, and approved the EPC contractor’s detailed design documents and drawings, covering all engineering disciplines—process, mechanical, electrical, and civil. Construction supervision was carried out alongside inspection of fabrication and procurement activities, both within Iran and abroad.
Results: Upon completion of Phase II, copper concentrate production (28% grade) increased to 700,000 tons per year. The expansion incorporated modern European technology, while construction and installation were completed under the supervision of skilled local experts.
