Project: Revamping of Apron and Taxiway, Larestan Airport
Client: Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company
Background: Iran Airports Company planned to revamp the existing apron and taxiway at Larestan Airport in Fars Province. While the engineering design phase had already been completed, the contract for Contractor’s Technical Assistance and Construction Supervision was awarded to MEWE through a competitive tender process.
Actions: In line with standard construction supervision practices in Iran, MEWE’s activities focused on controlling project timelines in accordance with the approved Master Plan; inspecting and verifying the quality of purchased materials; supervising geotechnical site work and laboratory testing; ensuring quality and quantity control of construction activities; and managing the project’s technical and administrative documentation.
Results: The works included the construction of a new apron measuring 150 × 155 meters, paved with a 35 cm-thick reinforced-free concrete layer. The existing taxiway was widened from 15 meters to 25 meters. Additionally, a new 350-meter-long access road was constructed to connect the recently completed passenger terminal to the new apron.
