Project: Maintenance Dredging Data Base for Iranian Ports

Background: PMO sought to create a comprehensive database of dredging operations for harbor basins and access channels in 12 operational ports along the Caspian Sea, Persian Gulf, and Sea of Oman. MEWE was engaged to gather, process, and organize the data.
Actions: Through extensive site visits, information such as dredging logs, dredger specifications, hydrographic maps, and satellite imagery was collected. Relevant hydrodynamic and port development reports were reviewed. A GIS-based database was designed for data storage and management.
Results: Sedimentation rates for each port were estimated using empirical methods based on existing records. Integrating dredging data improved cost planning and operational efficiency. Practical guidelines for periodic dredging were also provided.
