Project: 12,000 TPA Copper Tube Production Plant
Client: Iranian Babak Copper Company
Background: IBCCO, a major subsidiary of MIDHCO, developed a copper tube and pipe production plant in Shahr Babak, in central-eastern Iran, targeting both domestic and export markets. The plant employed state-of-the-art European Upcast technology as its core process.
Actions: MEWE managed the full range of engineering activities—from feasibility studies and conceptual/basic design to detailed design and construction supervision. Civil, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and piping disciplines were handled in-house, while process design was developed in collaboration with the European technology provider.
Results: The completed facility produces 12,000 tons of copper tubes annually in various forms, including Level Wound Coils, Straight Length Coils, and Pancake Coils, serving a wide range of industrial and construction applications. The project also created employment for 80 personnel, benefiting the small city of Shahr Babak.
