Project: Basic & Detail Design, Procurement, and supervision of the Iran Airtour Airlines Hangar at Mashhad Airport
Client: Iran Airtour Airlines
Background: Iran Airtour Company will construct a
maintenance hangar for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of Airbus A320 and
McDonnell Douglas MD80 aircraft at Mashhad Airport under a 30-year BOT (Build,
Operate, Transfer) contract. The hangar will be built on a 120×150‑meter plot
of land located on the southeastern side of the airport runway.
Actions: Two design options—single‑bay and double‑bay—are being considered. The
hangar interior measures 60×120 meters, with ancillary buildings on three sides
housing repair workshops, storage areas, and administrative and management
offices. The total floor area of the hangar complex is approximately 7,500
square meters and includes the following sections: wheel, tire, and brake
workshops; painting and sandblasting; machining; hydraulics; electromechanics;
battery; seat repair; airborne navigation; ground support equipment; high‑voltage
and low‑voltage switchgear rooms; diesel generators; and transformers. An apron
measuring 120×90 meters is also planned to accommodate light servicing and
quick‑turn checks for up to three aircraft simultaneously.
Results: This hangar, which is the largest of its kind in Khorasan Razavi Province, will not only serve the aforementioned aircraft but will also provide maintenance and repair services for similar aircraft operated by other airlines at Mashhad International Airport. The project is expected to generate direct productive employment for over 150 people, and up to four times that number in indirect jobs.
