Das vollständig mit Sedimenten gefüllte Tailings-Dammreservoir des Sarcheshme-Kupferkomplexes in Kerman wird im Handverfahren und unter Verwendung von Kiesmaterial auf eine Höhe von (zu diesem Zeitpunkt) 105 Metern angehoben. Damit der Bergbaubetrieb sowie die Wasser- und Tailingsbewirtschaftung in weiteren zwanzig Jahren möglich sein werden. Da die Abdichtung des neuen Abschnitts durch Anschluss an den Lehmkern des bestehenden Staudamms nicht durchführbar ist und jede Ausführung mit einem niedrigeren Wert als dem Kronenwert des Staudamms die Stabilität des Staudamms beeinträchtigen könnte, wurde beschlossen, den Staudamm abzudichten Es sollte eine PVC-Geomembranschicht auf der Oberseite des Damms angebracht werden.
